Our Tax Services Team at Kroll is monitoring the progress of Governor Braun’s formation of the Strategic Energy Growth Task Force in Indiana.

On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Governor Mike Braun announced that he is establishing a new Strategic Energy Growth Task Force with goals such as meeting the growing electricity demands of Indiana, positioning Indiana to become an energy export state and national leader in nuclear energy and providing affordable and reliable energy for Indiana residents. With the increase in manufacturing, data centers and consumer use of electricity. Indiana is facing an increased need for energy.

  • The Strategic Energy Growth Task Force's strategy focuses on the following priorities:
    • Increasing the reliability and affordability of energy to meet power needs and boost economic development
    • Making Indiana an energy export state
    • Maintaining existing levels of energy generation while exploring new methods of energy production
    • Deploying nuclear energy
  • The plan created by the task force provides a short run (five-year vision) and a long-term vision (20-year outlook). The objectives include:
    • Development of Indiana's energy sector to meet the growing energy demand
    • Improve affordability of energy for Indiana's residents
    • Diversification in energy policy through the Task Force's "All-of-the-Above" approach
  • Collaboration between Indiana and the private sector to deploy technology in exploring new opportunities to meet the unprecedented demand Notable members of the task force include:

    • Commerce Secretary David Adams 
    • Office of Energy Development Executive Director Jon Ford 
    • Department of Environmental Management Commissioner Clint Woods
    • Department of Natural Resources director Alan Morrison
    • Utility Regulatory Commission Chair Jim Huston
    • Finance Authority Public Finance Director Dan Huge

The impact of this newly established Strategic Energy Growth Task Force include positioning Indiana as a leader in energy production and export which will ultimately attract new industries and investments including the development of new energy generation facilities and upgrading transmission infrastructure.
