Matthias Volk is a Managing Director in the Investment Banking practice at Kroll, based in Munich.

He co-leads Kroll’s German Energy & Infrastructure and Distressed M&A practices alongside Jan-Hendrik Roever and is a member of the firm’s German Financial Advisory leadership team. He plays a key role in expanding Kroll’s Investment Banking activities in the German-speaking region, with a focus on the Energy & Infrastructure sector.

Matthias has more than 14 years of experience advising multinational corporations, mid-sized businesses, private equity sponsors and infrastructure investors on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and other strategic transactions. His primary focus areas include the Energy & Infrastructure sector, distressed M&A and complex carve-out situations.

Prior to joining Kroll, Matthias was a Director at goetzpartners (now Fortlane Partners), a leading European M&A advisory firm headquartered in Munich, where he advised clients on transactions across the Energy & Infrastructure sector as well as distressed M&A. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Duff & Phelps (now Kroll), Rothschild & Co and BNP Paribas.

He has advised clients including Siemens, Merck, Engie, Telefónica and DXC Technology, as well as a broad range of private equity and infrastructure funds and family offices on complex transactions and strategic initiatives.

Matthias holds a Diploma in Economics and Management with a major in Finance from the University of Ulm (equivalent to a Master’s degree).
