Kurt Steltenpohl is a Managing Director in the New York office of Kroll and leads the Operational Consulting practices in Financial Advisory. Kurt has 25 years of experience advising corporation executives and private equity firms on company operational strategy in transactions, turnaround, and distressed situations.

Kurt specializes in manufacturing and services sectors, including consumer product, industrial, auto, aerospace, and technology.  He drives performance improvement through effective and efficient strategy and planning, production, logistics, IT and infrastructure.  He has significant experience working on pre-deal diligence and post-deal integration in support public and private equity transactions. He also is frequently involved in pre-distressed business situations to drive organizational and operational restructuring initiatives including serving in interim COO or other management roles.

Prior to joining Kroll, Kurt was a director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Services, where he led operations diligences identifying EBITDA and working capital opportunities in mid-market companies for private equity clients. Before working with Alvarez & Marsal, he drove enterprise and shop floor transformations as a strategy and operations consultant with the boutique firm PRTM and later PwC.

Kurt has an MBA, MS, and BS in mechanical engineering from MIT, and served as a U.S. Navy submarine officer.
